Candle Festivel (Ubon Ratchatanee)

I know it's kinda late to post the experience i had in Ubon during the Candle Festival held in the month of July. But since i want people to see the amazing candles, keep on reading : )

The Candle Festival in Ubon is one of the most spectacular festivals in the "Land of Smiles' Thailand. Ubon is situated in the northeast of Thailand bordering Cambodia. People speak a different dialect called Issan and has a close similarity to the Laos language. Candle festival is celebrated in the whole month of July and people from different countries are always invited to participate in the wax sculpting competition.

We went there on July 7-9 and took a night trip from Phitsanulok. The trip took us almost 12 hours so we arrived there the following morning. We were tired and worn out, but due to limited vacation we have, we didn't waste the time and we explored Ubon to see what's in store for us. I saw so many beautiful designs made by Thai and other international wax sculptors. They made it so beautifully so i asked my friends to take a picture of the designs made.

Then we went to the park. There was a massive design of a garuda of some sort. I thought the thing was made from wax but to my surprise, it wasn't. Anyhow, the thing looks good on pic so i took a picture of it as well.

The following day, we watched the parade of the candles. The designs were so amazing i can't take my eyes of it. Thai traditional dance was also showcased so the flickering of camera flashes were everywhere.

Going there was an experience worth remembering. I really enjoyed being there and I planned to visit Ubon again sometimes soon. If you like to see the great wax designs, i recommend you visit Ubon. Candle Festival is a thing that most likely make you breathless for a while due to their magnificent wax designs. A very breathtaking view indeed...Worth a visit. : )
